I apologize to those fine folks who take the time to comment on this blog, but I have had to tighten the controls on comments as I was getting a ton of spam all of a sudden and this is the only way to keep the spammers out.

Have you installed & activated Akismet? It’s a WordPress plugin that automatically moves 99% of the spam comments to the trash. There’s more info here:

I have a high-traffic business blog that’s a target for comment spam and Akismet has worked great. As a result I don’t need any captchas or other techniques to keep spammers out. The stray ones who get through the filter are easy to mark as spam.
